cookiebun: I'm thinking more the latter. He is fairly well adjusted, so I would think he had the happy childhood/growing up... then they were gone. maybe it was an accident that killed them and they were very supportive of Ben??? I like to think positive...

nochaser: I just always got the feeling that Ben's family was fairly stable and accepting. Don't know why really. Perhaps because he always seems waaayyy to Zen to have been traumatized by family dysfunction in his youth.
